DESIGNING FOR DIGNITY: CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES THAT BUILD TRUST, ENGAGEMENT AND COMMUNITY

Wednesday, April 26, 2023
12:00 pm ET - 01:00 pm ET

Led by: Cait Lamberton, Alberto I. Duran President's Distinguished Professor, Professor of Marketing, The Wharton School

Dignity – the recognition of the inherent worth of all people – has been argued to be the bedrock of ethics, human rights, and value. But from a concrete, practical perspective, how do we design for dignity, across our stakeholders’ experiences or even in our communities? And what happens if we do? In this talk, Professor Lamberton will first define dignity as it unfolds in the marketplace, with particular attention to the business case for its prioritization. She’ll then introduce some practical tools that can be used to audit, and optimize for, dignity, and discuss new research that shows its effects on key outcomes such as trust, engagement, and generosity.
